Arte Soleil

I try to find the hidden messages in everything I see. Not like, “What is this artist trying to say here?”… no, much bigger than that. More like, “What is Spirit trying to [teach/show] me?” And, once I see that message, I often try to find the area in my life where that puzzle piece is supposed to fit… because it all has to be happening for a reason, right? Vacationing in Maui was no exception.

Before we left, I could feel the tension in my neck and shoulders. My eyes were dancing with twitches. I had started to back off from obligations to lighten my load, and the things that usually brought me joy, weren’t. All of that eased the second we stepped onto the plane and completely dissipated while we waited for the rental car at the Kahului airport parking lot.

We stayed at a resort just minutes from where my cousin and her husband live, and I tried to get in every sunset I could. On day #? (I lost track), my cousin and I spent the day in the water, bobbing like buoys… which brought back memories of living in Guam and reminded me that it had been over 30 years since submerging myself in the Ocean, played in her waves, or literally let myself “go with the flow”. I had forgotten that feeling of complete submission to something greater. As we bobbed, I looked over and realized that we were maybe 20′-30′ from a turtle! There was my message!! My cup of love and joy was FULL! Overflowing to the point of spilling onto my “canvas”. (And, I also realized that my shoulders were getting crispy… the next day I stayed in.)

For me, Maui is a magical land. It brings families together, is a beautiful backdrop for amazing memories, and provides access to many things I love: gorgeous sunsets, being in the water/ocean, turtles, the outdoors, and of course, art! I needed that time to rejuvenate my heart and my soul.

Thankfully, you don’t need to go to Maui to visit Arte Soleil. Open most Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays, it’s a great place to get away and do something good for YOUR heart and soul – with art.

Just a few pictures to share…
