Through the Viewfinder

by Betsy Anderson

I’ve had my hands on cameras throughout most of my life. From my sister’s Fisher Price Kodak, to my current Pentax KX. The cameras have varied in different sizes, brands, and even colors.

My favorite thing about cameras in general is the viewfinder. Through that little piece of glass, I can see the world any way I want; whether my life at the time is in focus or not. I can make the wonders of my imagination come to life, capturing the moment, so that I can hold on to it forever. This not only helps me remember times that not only are happy, but it also helps me hold on to the past.

For me, photography is not only a hobby, but a passion. It awakens my imagination, which in turn inspires my creativity. My inspiration for photographs come to me through many sources… music, the way the light filters through the trees, dreams I’ve had… my muses are many.

Working with Arte Soleil has made me feel like a part of my community. It allows me to have a home for my photos where I know they will be safe and seen by community members all alike. I like that the shop is a place where other artists can come together, share and experience all sorts of art. I like being part of this family.
